DRY LOOSE LICK

HORSE HI CAL HORSE

Product Description

Woods Stockfeeds Horse Hi Cal Lick is a high-calcium dry loose lick suitable for feeding horses which are grazing tropical pastures with high oxalate levels, resulting in “Big Head” syndrome. “Big Head” disease occurs in horses and ponies because of dietary mineral imbalances. Forages with high levels of oxalates ‘tie-up’ calcium, causing it to be unavailable for absorption and upsetting the calcium and phosphorous ratio in circulation. Horses draw calcium from their bones when there is insufficient supply from the diet, then fibrous growths are formed to compensate for the bone loss thus the name “Big Head” disease.

The high calcium to phosphorous ratio in Horse Hi Cal Lick allows the horse and ponies to meet their calcium, phosphorous and other mineral requirements while grazing tropical pastures. Horse Hi Cal Lick is composed of slow rumen degradable protein meals, salt (8% maximum), limestone, mono-dicalcium phosphate (MDCP), magnesium and sulphur sources, and trace minerals and vitamins.
